Tony Dungy: It's 'baffling' that Eric Bieniemy isn't a NFL head coach yet

Since news broke that Eric Bieniemy would be returning to the Chiefs as the offensive coordinator next season, many have been vocal about their concerns regarding the reasons why Bieniemy -- one of the most qualified assistants in the country -- still hasn't been given the chance to be an NFL head coach. Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy is one Bieniemy's biggest advocates, and while speaking with 610's The Drive on Thursday, he didn't hesitate to point out the hypocrisies in the NFL hiring system.

"It is baffling," Dungy said. "What the league is saying is that Andy Reid is a good judge of talent. He hired Brad Childress as his offensive coordinator in Philadelphia and Brad Childress gets a job. He comes to Kansas City and you mentioned Doug Pederson and Matt Nagy. Well, we don't know that they're going to be great head coaches, but Andy Reid trusts them with their offense, they did a good job, we think they're going to be good coaches and they get jobs. And they both went to the playoffs, they both won coach of the year. Well now you're telling me all of a sudden Andy Reid has lost his touch? He doesn't know how to hire people? He just promoted a guy who's not very good? No, that doesn't happen. So I'm not sure what people's thought process is, but it really makes no logical sense."
