On Tuesday, the Seattle Seahawks agreed to a four-year extension with All-Pro safety Jamal Adams, one that will make him the NFL’s highest-paid safety. With a deal that has a maximum value of $72 million, the NFL's safety market has been set -- which obviously has major implications for other guys looking for new deals, like the Cheifs' Tyrann Mathieu. How will Adams' deal affect what happens in Kansas City? Will it at all? FanSided's Matt Verderame joined 610's The Drive on Tuesday to discuss.

"It means Tyrann Mathieu has a big smile on his face today," he said. "Because if you're Tyrann Mathieu, you're going to get paid more than Adams. Yeah you're a few years older, but you're a first team All Pro each of the last two seasons. You have been to the Super Bowl each of the last two seasons. You've been a captain on those teams. You've been instrumental on those teams. You've outplayed what was a three-year, $42 million contract, and I think if you're Tyrann Mathieu and his representation, you're looking at Jamal Adams' deal and saying, 'OK, he got $17.5 million per, and $38 million guaranteed. My number starts at $18 million per and $40 million guaranteed.'"
