With only two weeks of regular-season NFL games left, the conversation about season MVP is starting to come more into focus. Vegas thinks the award is Patrick Mahomes' to lose, but there are still plenty of compelling arguments to be made for players like Jalen Hurts, Justin Jefferson, and Joe Burrow. So with a couple games left to convince everyone, has Mahomes already locked up the award? While speaking to 610's The Drive on Wednesday, Chiefs Insider Pete Sweeney gave his take.
"It would be a little bit miraculous," Sweeney said, when asked if someone besides Mahomes could take home the award. "I think the Bengals would have to win Monday night against the Bills, one-on-one against Josh Allen, and the Chiefs would have to blow one of these games. I think the only possible way for Joe Burrow – and I'm not saying this is right, or fair, it's a narrative thing – to win would be for them to miraculously get the bye, but that would include Mahomes dropping a game to Russ Wilson or Jarrett Stidham, which isn't going to happen unless something crazy, crazy happens. And so, he's not completely out of it. Is it 0%? No, it's non-zero. But it's small beans for me."
