The NFL Owner's meeting is always good for a new storyline or two, and on Tuesday, Kansas City was in the middle of one its more interesting ones. That morning, when asked about potential options for the Chiefs' longterm stadium plans, team president Mark Donovan said the team has considered moving the new site away from Arrowhead Stadium and into Kansas. Another report, from Sports Business Journal, reported the same thing. The news obviously made some noise in Kansas City -- so much so that Quinton Lucas, the city's mayor, called into 610 Sports to explain their side of things.

"The Chiefs are aware, as everybody is, that they're still under a lease for a decent amount of time," he said. "I think the Royals conversation has accelerated some of that discussion. While the Chiefs, as they should as any responsible business, should look at where good deals can from from, I think they recognize the long-term tradition they've had with Kansas City and the state of Missouri, our on-going interest in a future with the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, and I think that the odds are that, hands down, the Chiefs will be playing in Kansas City -- in Kansas City, Missouri -- for the long-term, foreseeable future, given, I think, all the work that we've done attracting sports franchises in the state of Missouri. And I think the ongoing interest that myself, the city council, and the people of Kansas City will continue to have in having this great asset."
