(610 Sports) – There wasn't much that the Kansas City Chiefs weren't feeling good about following their 44-21 dismantling of the Arizona Cardinals during their week 1 clash in Glendale. With that said, there were several players that got banged up, including a left wrist injury to quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The injury to Mahomes wrist happened in the first quarter following a 9-yard touchdown pass to tight end Travis Kelce. Fortunately, Mahomes gave a positive update regarding his wrist in postgame comments to reporters.
"I fell on it on that first touchdown, I kind of threw my hand back and fell on it,” Mahomes said. “But I just got it looked at, and everything looked good. Hopefully, it’s not something that lingers around, something that we can kind of get cleared up quickly.”
Despite the injury to his non-throwing hand, Mahomes still managed to put up Madden like numbers, completing 30 of 39 passes for 360 yards and 5 touchdowns with no interceptions.
Hopefully the injury heals up quickly and doesn't linger, as the Chiefs have a short week before facing the division rival Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night's home opener.
The Chiefs offensive line will have their hands full in protecting Mahomes, as the Chargers revamped defense harassed Raiders quarterback Derek Carr on Sunday, sacking him six times and picking off three passes in their 24-19 win over Las Vegas on Sunday.
