(610 Sports) – Following the Kansas City Chiefs Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, they find themselves in unfamiliar territory, at the bottom of the division with a losing record. Since Patrick Mahomes took the reigns as the team's quarterback, the Chiefs have never had a losing record, at any point, until now.
Sitting with a 1-2 record following a second consecutive loss, the Chiefs are facing regular-season adversity for the first time and quarterback Patrick Mahomes joined 610 Sports'The Drive,' to talk about what happened against the Chargers and how the team is looking to rebound.

"In this league, you gotta execute when it comes down to it and we didn't do that," said Mahomes. "Obviously, the interception was a bad one that gave them the short field position that put our defense in a bad situation. When we walked out on that field, just like every time we walk out on that field, we thought we were gonna score."
The stage never seems too big for this team, so we've become accustomed to believing that they will come up big in the toughest situations and make the plays they need to make. That's not what happened late in the 4th quarter on Sunday, a rare miscue in crunch time resulted in an interception
"It was miscommunication but it was one of those plays where that wasn't the play design," said Mahomes. "We were kind of rolling and scrambling like we always do and most times that works, where we're on the same page, but we weren't."
"It's just kind of a throw that you're not supposed to make in that situation, so I'll have to learn from that. Obviously, I wanna win the game and I wanna win the game right then but we can punt the ball and trust the defense to get a stop and either go to overtime, or get another chance to get a field goal."
While this loss may be tough to digest and looking at a 1-2 record stings, we've seen this team dig out of bigger holes and do it on the biggest stage. As a fanbase, we need to take one big collective breath, watch the Raiders and Broncos go through another midseason collapse, and trust that QB1 will do what he does best, win football games and win them in bunches.
