(610 Sports) – Odell Beckham Jr. asked out of Cleveland and in the end, he got what he wanted..
After clearing NFL waivers on Tuesday without being claimed and can now sign as a free agent with any team. The flashy wide receiver is expected to make a decision in the near future, and he is said to be focusing on only a few teams.
According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Beckham has narrowed his focus to three teams, which include the Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs. At this point, it's unclear if there is mutual interest from from any of the teams mentioned.
Beckham has made it clear that he wants to play for a contender. While he is incredibly talented, OBJ has a reputation for being a big personality and not easy to manage. He has also suffered numerous injuries in recent years and hasn't been as productive in Cleveland as the team had hoped, after trading for him ahead of the 2019 season from the New York Giants.
There have already been rumors that Beckham would create issues with a team, if they were to claim him off waivers and he didn't approve of the destination. Unsurprisingly, Beckham went unclaimed earlier in the week.
The Chiefs have been searching for a consistent third receiving option, even signing oft-suspended wide receiver Josh Gordon earlier in the season. Gordon has yet to make an impact on the field, tallying just one catch in four appearances.
When healthy, Beckham has the athleticism to be a difference maker but we've yet to see the same ability he showed during his days with the New York Giants. In four game this year with the Browns, he has tallied 17 catches for 232 yards and no TDs.
