While Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs celebrated another AFC Title on Sunday, Joe DeCamara could not help but wonder what if the Eagles kept him?
Begins at 13:10 mark
"With all due respect to the 2017 Eagles, who deserve nothing but respect, glory, and love," DeCamara said on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show with former Eagle and player of Reid's, Jon Ritchie. "Maybe the last 11 years of Eagles history would be even better if they haven't fired Andy Reid?"
Reid, 65, and the Kansas City Chiefs are now heading to their fourth Super Bowl of the last five years, as Big Red looks for his third career Super Bowl victory, after Sunday's 17-10 road win over the Baltimore Ravens.
While the head coach of the Eagles from 1999-2012, Reid led Philadelphia to five NFC Championship appearances and one Super Bowl, a loss to the Patriots.
"I was all for firing Andy [in 2012]," DeCamara admitted. "Watching that [AFC Championship] game yesterday and the outcome, it really dawned on me for the first time, I said to myself—and I put up Twitter [X]—if the Eagles had not fired Andy Reid after 2012, how many Super Bowls would they have in these last 11 years? Zero? One? Two? Three? Four?"
Quickly, 94WIP Morning Show co-hosts Rhea Hughes and James Seltzer pointed out that Patrick Mahomes—the Chiefs' 2017 10th overall pick—is a massive reason for Reid's success in KC.
"To the Mahomes point, I don't know," DeCamara replied. "Andy Reid saw something in Mahomes and said we're moving up to go get that guy. So I don't know the answer to Mahomes. Here's what I do know—Andy Reid is better than anything the Eagles have had...They're about to have three!"
