Maybe no team has gotten more accolades for their 2022 draft class than the Chiefs. Universally praised for how they drafted and maneuvered over draft weekend, the roster now looks about as stacked as it has in the Patrick Mahomes-Andy Reid era. When asked about whether he was satisfied with what he had put together, GM Brett Veach explained that while he was pleased, that doesn't mean a whole lot in late April.
"I feel pretty good about the work we did in the offseason," he said. "We had a lot of things we had to accomplish, and I feel good about our approach. I feel good about the plan that we had. It was tricky, especially when the receiver market went crazy. I'm proud of my group for being able to adapt and adjust. I think that we did that. So I feel good about where we were from the Cincinnati game, through free agency, through this draft. I feel really good and really excited about not just the talent on this team, but the quantity. I think we added a lot of good talent. But I don't know if you ever really feel confident. You see it year in and year out -- so much revolves around some injury luck and staying healthy. I don't think a lot of teams would have interview the Bengals and said, 'Do you think you feel good that you guys can compete for a Super Bowl?' and I don't know how many people would have believed them. That's why this league is so great. I feel good on paper, yeah. But there's so many things that can happen ... It looks good on paper, but there's a ton of work that has to be done."
