You know that life in the NFL is going pretty well when even wins don't cure everything. That was the case again for the Chiefs on Sunday, who sprinted out to a 27-0 lead over AFC West rival Denver, only to watch the Broncos storm back and make a game of it. Ultimately – and despite an uncharacteristically high amount of interceptions from Patrick Mahomes – the Chiefs left Denver with another AFC West win under their belt, and now hold a three-game lead with four more to play. While speaking to 610's Fescoe In The Morning on Monday, former Chiefs' LB Derrick Johnson gave his take on how the team played in Week 14.

"Yeah, that shouldn't happen," Johnson said when asked about the Chiefs giving up such a commanding lead. "But when you make mistakes and you turn the ball over, that's what happens in the NFL. Regardless of the team. We're head-and-shoulders better than Denver, and everyone knows that, even by our record. But being a divisional opponent, division opponents know us better – and we know them better. That's why we jumped on them like we did, 27-0. And honestly, maybe running the ball a little bit more. Obviously Pat had a great game other than the three picks ... Pat Mahomes is a special player, and other than those picks – I know he's probably beating himself over the head, probably didn't quite sleep last night because of those three picks – we still got the win."
