The Chiefs' offense is kicking into high gear of late, despite the absence of what many people would consider to be a go-to wide receiver. They overhauled that room this offseason after trading Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins, but so far, the offense has been significantly more centered around Travis Kelce, for good reason. Speaking with 610's Fescoe In The Morning on Tuesday, Chiefs Insider Pete Sweeney explained why the Chiefs don't even really need the typical "WR1" right now.
"I don't think we necessarily do," he said. "I think it's a message they've been trying to dictate since before training camp. And sometimes these things can simply be press conference things that you're trying to make everyone feel better. But it's really coming to fruition ... this new system of Kelce's going to be the guy every week, because he's just a really rare player, one of the better tight ends of all time, and then you can have a Mecole week, or a JuJu and Marquez Valdes-Scantling week. And sometimes one is going to lead in yardage, and sometimes it'll be the other one. But hey, if you're winning games, does it really matter at that point? No."
