With only one day left until Bobby Witt Jr makes his Royals debut, the buzz about the best prospect in baseball has never been louder. A skillset like his rarely comes around, and while speaking to 610's The Drive on Wednesday afternoon, Baseball America's JJ Cooper -- who's watched Witt Jr. as much as anybody -- explained what it is, exactly, that makes him so special.
"The thing about Witt is that you know that you're getting defensive value, speed, and power," he said. "If I'm going to nitpick, if there's a question, it's going to be -- and he's shown significant improvement at this -- maybe he's not as selective. Maybe there's some strikeouts where maybe he hits .250 instead of .280-.290. But that's nitpicking when you're talking about a guy who can play Gold Glove defense at third right now, and can play shortstop and play it very well. If he does that, and hit for power, and hit .250, you're still talking about one of the better players in the game."
