The start of Spring Training is always an exciting time for baseball teams, no matter how much expectations there ultimately are for the season. That's no different for the Royals, who are entering the 2023 season with new manager Matt Quatraro. Quatraro figures to do things a little differently than his predecessor Mike Matheny, and while speaking to 610's Fescoe In The Morning this week, Quatraro gave some insight into what his role will be like during the next six weeks or so.

"The game has evolved so much," he said. "With technology, and these guys all have their own ... personal coaches in the offseason. There's so many voices in their heads, so it's a really difficult job for any of the position coaches to really get down and know what's important to them, and what they're already bringing with them as far as knowledge and ideas that other people are giving them, and trying to distill that down so when they go out on the field, they can be freed up to be the athletes that they are. Putting me in that mix would make it even more complicated, so more of what I do is discussions behind the scenes here with the coaches to see what kind of ideas we can come up with to help these guys."
