Mike Matheny gives an update on Bobby Witt Jr.'s hand injury

Everyone in the Royals organization, not to mention the fans, got a scare last night when Bobby Witt Jr. left the game after being hit on the hand by a pitch.

Witt's been one of the few bright spots in the Royals' dismal season so far, as the young star is on-track to finish with close to 25 homers, 70+ extra base hits, and almost 90 RBI. When speaking with 610's Fescoe In The Morning on Wednesday, Royals manager Mike Matheny gave an update on how Witt's doing the day after.

"Bobby is at the doctor right now getting a closer scan," he said. "We had an X-ray last night, things came back negative. But we wanted to get a closer look just to make sure there's no micro-fractures or anything. He got smoked ... he's got a toughness to him. That's the third time he's been hit, and that's his throwing hand ... he was fighting me as I was walking him back, he felt like he could finish the at-bat."
