Royals Insider: 'I think they lift the lockout within the next few weeks'

It's hard to find someone who's following along with MLB's lockout that has any amount of optimism, but it never hurts to hear it. Speaking on 610's The Drive on Friday afternoon, Royals Insider Josh Vernier explained why he thinks the lockout may not last as long as others are suggesting.

"It really comes down to whenever the owners say, 'OK, that's enough, we'll start this season' and I think that's going to happen in the next 10 days," he said. "I still think we'll still play all 162 on time ... Baseball says the deadline to avoid missing regular season is February 28th. I think that could be pushed to the 5th of March. I think between the 28th and the 5th of March, this thing will be - I hate to even say resolved. They could be practicing right now, they could be preparing for spring training games, but the owners have decided not to do that. I think they lift the lockout within the next few weeks, and this is just more bad PR for a sport that can't afford it."
