(610 Sports) – Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez is a finalist for the 2022 Louisville Silver Slugger Award.
The Silver Slugger Award is given to the best offensive player at each position in each league. Perez joins fellow catchers Alejandro Kirk (Blue Jays), Martin Maldonado (Astros), Sean Murphy (A’s), Cal Raleigh (Mariners), and Adley Rutschman (Orioles) as 2022 finalists.
Perez has won the Silver Slugger Award a franchise record four times (2016, 2018, 2020, 2021) and a win in 2022 would be his third-consecutive award.
Perez finished the season in the top five in RBI, home runs, and extra-base hits among catchers and was fifth overall in the American League in batting average (.337).
The 2022 Silver Slugger Awards will be announced on Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. central.
