(610 Sports) – Whit Merrifield will join teammate Salvador Perez on the American League All-Star team next week at Coors Field in Denver, CO. Merrifield was named as an injury replacement via player ballot after Astros' second baseman Jose Altuve declined to participate due to a knee injury.
The All-Star selection is the second for Merrifield, who was also selected to the midsummer classic in 2019 and just the 14th position player in Royals history to be selected to multiple All-Star games.

He entered Saturday leading the Major Leagues in stolen bases (24), swiping 24-straight since being caught on his first attempt of the season. He’s also tied for eighth in the American League in hits (95), tied for 11th in multi-hit games (26), and doubles (20).
