On September 11th, 2001 — America's darkest day — we all witnessed the best in Americans. We saw police and firefighters running into the Twin Towers. We saw people helping strangers. We saw humanity rise above tragedy.

Now, twenty years later, we remember those loved ones lost on that day. And we here at 96.5 TIC think one way to honor their memories is through service. By giving back. Just like folks did for strangers and loved ones years ago.

Today we are spotlighting IRIS, Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services in New Haven. IRIS is at the forefront of welcoming evacuated Afghan families here in Connecticut. Christine and Salt spoke with IRIS Executive Director, Chris George about the most pressing needs of the organization.
