Each week Christine and Salt interview the Badass Woman of the Week, a feature that aims to reward women who have overcome a challenge and emerged stronger as a result. Each Badass Woman wins an empowering B Badass bracelet from The Power to B and is featured on-air Fridays at 7:15 A.M. with Christine and Salt in the morning.
This week's honoree is Kathy Spencer of Kensington, as nominated by her dear friend, Rebecca. Rebecca writes, "prior to 2020, Kathy had been a full time educator, mother, wife and SERIOUS motorcycle enthusiast. She’d ride thousands, nay, TENS of thousands each year with her women's riding group [Daughters of Odin - CT chapter of Women in the Wind International], friends, and her husband."

But then everything changed. Kathy came down with Covid. Rebecca continues, "long story short, she is a long-hauler. Her life has been irrevocably changed due to complications from Covid-19, and she’s maintained that the one thing that keeps her going — her love of riding." Kathy is a fighter though (of course she is, she's a badass woman) and much to everyone’s delight — surpassing even her doctor’s expectations — she rides again! Thanks to the help from her fellow female badass riders, Kathy now has an oxygen concentrator that attaches right to her beloved bike. Rebecca adds, "Kathy ALWAYS has a kind word for people, and continues to do thoughtful things for others. Her outlook on life, under difficult circumstances, is still so positive. She is my hero, always an inspiration, and one TOTAL BADASS WOMAN!" We couldn't agree more, Rebecca. So congratulations Kathy!
