Disturbance at town park in Groton; two in custody

Groton, Conn./WTIC Radio - There were some tense moments Saturday in Groton where town police say two males got into a fight at a youth sports game at Poquonnock Plains Park.

Police say there were several events all taking place at the same time.

Beginning around 1:00 p.m., numerous 911 calls reported one of the indivuduals retrieved two firearms and fired shots.

But police later confirmed no shots were fired in the indcident.

Police said parkgoers fled the scene en masse after they believed one of the combatants did have at least one firearm.

Two individuals were taken into custody.

They have been identified as Randall Clark, 43, of Medford, Mass., and Dustin Hibbert, 30, of Bridgeport.

Clark faces breach of peace, risk of injury and weapons charges.

Hibbert is charged with risk of injury and breach of peace.
