From across the country, 350 public schools are on the federal Education Department's just released list of National Blue Ribbon Schools,
Among them, four from Connecticut.
Two of them are the Marine Science Magnet High School in Groton and The Philip R. Smith Elementary School in South Windsor. Both are honored as
being "exemplary high performing" schools.
Connecticut's two other Blue Ribbon Schools are Skinner Road School in Vernon and Stamford Charger School for Excellence. They made the category called
"exemplary achievement gap closing."
Celebrating the four schools, Governor Ned Lamont says Connecticut schools are consistently rated among the best in the nation. That's what he says in a statement,
although getting getting four out of 350 schools means that Connecticut has just over one percent of the nation's Blue Ribbon schools.
