Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Sandra Slack Glover, who was Governor Lamont's choice to fill a seat on the Connecticut Supreme Court, has withdrawn her nomination.

Lamont made the announcement in a statement Friday afternoon.

He says Glover, 52, would have been an extraordinary choice.

But any support for the current chief of the U.S. Attorney's Office's Appellate Unit had eroded when it became known that Glover had signed a letter of support six years ago for now current U.S. Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

“In the coming months, I will consider other accomplished candidates who, like Sandy, share my values and are dedicated to the principles of justice, equality, and fairness under the law.”

Glover underwent a grueling hours-long hearing this week before the legislature's Judiciary Committee.
