East Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - A Groton man pulled over Wednesday by an off-duty state trooper has been charged with impersonating a police officer.
Just before 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday the off-duty trooper assigned to Troop B in Bridgeport noticed the vehicle in question, a Dodge Challenger, displaying red and blue illuminated lights on the front exterior along southbound Interstate 95 near exit 52 in East Haven.
During questioning, Michael Marshall, 43, of Groton, told the trooper the vehicle was not registered as one for law enforcement purposes.
Marshall also told the trooper that he used the red and blue lights to drive faster through traffic during his commute to work.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and Marshall was placed under arrest.
He faces charges of impersonating a police officer.
Marshall is free on bond and is due in court November 13.
