Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The state inspector general has cleared four Milford police officers in the death last year of a shoplifting suspect.
It was last June 5th that officers were called to a Big Y store on the Boston Post Road.
That's where they found Michael Brown, 52, attempting to leave the scene in his vehicle.
Police body cam footage showed officers repeatedly ordering Brown out of the car until he was pulled out.
Brown complained of breathing problems, was given water and attended to by emergency personnel who arrived on scene later.
He died at the hospital.
The inspector general's report says it was determined Brown's death was caused due to an underlying medical condition, cardiovascular disease, and not excessive force.
