
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - New Haven Police are investigating an early Friday morning shooting that has left a man with critical injuries.
A 44-year-old man was found shot in the groin, abdomen, and forearm around 1:53 a.m. Friday on Howard Avenue. He has been hospitalized at Yale-New Haven Hospital and is in critical condition.
While the shooting investigation was underway, additional officers in the area observed a crowd near the library.
A man took off running towards Daggett Street. The officers chased him through multiple yards and over a couple of fences. They caught up to him in a backyard, searched him and found a gun in his coat pocket. He was arrested for possession of a firearm. A connection between this incident and the shooting has not been established yet.
