(WTIC Radio) - Police in Waterbury and New Haven are investigating two different weekend shootings that have resulted in the death of two teenagers.
Waterbury Police say Joseph Zavala, 18, of Waterbury, was fatally shot around 7:31 p.m. Saturday night in the area of North Main and Kingsbury Streets.
Zavala was taken from the scene to St. Mary's Hospital, where he began receiving care while remaining in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.
New Haven Police say Jovani Ortiz, 19, of New Haven, was found Sunday night around 8:19 p.m. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the area of Downes Street, between Columbus and Congress Avenues.
Ortiz was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital. He was receiving treatment while in critical condition when he died from his shooting wounds.
Neither police department has released any information about possible suspect(s).
