Storrs, Conn./WTIC Radio - A day before the NCAA champion UConn men's basketball team is to be feted with a parade and rally in downtown Hartford, star big man Donovan Clingan has announced he'll leave school early for this year's NBA Draft.
In a post on social media, the Bristol Central alum thanks his family, teammates, fans and coaches for his two-year run of championships.
Clingan called it a lifelong dream of his to play in the NBA.
He says it's hard to leave UConn but "the time is now."
Clingan averaged 13.0 points per game, along with 7.4 rebounds and 2.5 blocks during the 2023-24.
This year's draft is set for June 27th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
