Vehicle stolen at gunpoint in Newington

NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Newington Police are investigating an armed car theft Saturday evening.

Police responded to the Sunoco gas station on New Britain Avenue, where a group of suspects that pulled up in a red Toyota Prius entered an unoccupied Jeep. The owner of the unoccupied Jeep had entered the Sunoco convenience store.

When the owner realized his vehicle was being stolen, he ran outside to stop the theft at which time one of the at least three suspects pointed a handgun at the victim, who ran away uninjured.

The stolen Jeep was recovered in the area of 410 Market Street in Hartford.

Suspects in the case have been identified.
