President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance will be sworn in today, 76 days after they secured the White House in the 2024 Election. So how can you watch it?
The ceremony will kick off on Monday with opening remarks starting at the Capitol at around 11:30 a.m. EST. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s combined choirs and the United States Marine Band will both perform musical preludes.
Shortly after, there will be a call to order and invocations before the president-elect and vice president-elect take their oaths of office. The oaths will be administered by two Supreme Court justices.
At noon EST, Chief Justice John Roberts will administer the oath of office to Trump, while Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh will administer the oath of office to Vance.
As of noon EST, under the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, the incoming president’s term will officially begin, regardless of whether or not he has actually said his oaths.
Trump will reportedly be using a Bible given to him as a child by his mother and the Lincoln Bible, a historical artifact used to swear in Abraham Lincoln in 1861, which Trump used in 2017.
Vance will use a family Bible that reportedly belonged to his maternal great-grandmother.
