A high school principal in Oklahoma is out of a job and facing criminal charges after he allegedly got drunk at a school dance and inappropriately touched teenage girls.
Mickey Replogle appeared in court Tuesday and entered a not-guilty plea to public intoxication charges, KOKI-TV reported.
Replogle was arrested while chaperoning Bixby High School's fall dance at the Tulsa Renaissance Convention Center on Sept. 28. According to district administrators, several students and parents complained that he reeked of alcohol and was getting handsy with students on the dance floor.
Superintendent Rob Miller addressed the incident in a letter to parents, saying Replogle is no longer employed by Bixby Schools.
"It distresses me that any child in Bixby Schools would feel unsafe or uncomfortable around any BPS employee, let alone a person in a leadership position. I apologize to anyone who has been impacted by this incident and want to assure you that we are committed to regaining any trust that has been damaged," Miller said in the letter, which was shared by KJRH.
"Mr. Replogle will no longer be employed by Bixby schools," Miller added. "We will work diligently to restore and strengthen the positive culture we have at our schools."
Additional counselors were available at the high school, and a statement providing updates and "relevant information" was read to all students, Miller said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Tulsa Police Department.
Replogle is due back in court in November.
