Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch and other salad dressings have been recalled due to possible contamination of granulated onion with black plastic planting material, according the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Ventura Foods of Irvine, Calif., initiated the recall that covers 3,556 cases of product on Nov. 6. It was classified as a Class II recall on Dec. 4.
In addition to Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch with SKU number 0 26700 19192 3 other salad dressings in the recall include: Italian Salad Dressing with SKU number 7 67367 00518 4, Creamy Poblano Avocado Ranch Dressing and Dip with SKU number 7 34730 53243 1, Ventura Caesar Dressing with SKU number 00 026700 17360 8, Pepper Mill Regal Caesar Dressing with SKU 0 93901 72607 0, Pepper Mill Creamy Caesar Dressing with SKU number 0 93901 78134 5, Caesar Dressing (Costco Service Deli) with SKU number 0 26700 19376 7 and Caesar Dressing (Costco Food Court) with SKU number 0 26700 19376 7.
Ventura distributed impacted products to 42 locations in the following states: Kentucky, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Nevada, Virginia, Missouri, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Washington, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Texas, Ohio, North Dakota and Oregon. Product was also distributed to Costa Rica.
Costco and Ventura issued a recall on Nov. 7 of Chicken Salad and Chicken Sandwich with Caesar Salad due to the “possible presence of plastic foreign material in the salad dressing of the items.” Those products had sell by dates between Oct. 17, 2025 and Nov. 9, 2025.
“Please stop eating the product and return the item to your local Costco for a full refund,” said the wholesale retailer.
