If you're into moral victories, you're happy this Monday morning.
Personally, I believe the Lions cost themselves a win over the undefeated Chiefs with mistakes and careless turnovers. Here the three plays that stood out.
3. Kerryon Johnson's goal-line fumble.
There was no reason Johnson needed to extend the ball when he was still a yard short of the goal line, something Detroit's coaches tell their players not to do. Johnson called it a "stupid mistake, young mistake." Chiefs cornerback Beshaud Breeland took the fumble back 100 yards for a touchdown to put Kansas City ahead 20-13.
"We lost three or seven points, which turned into seven points for them, and we lost by three points. So obviously it hurt," Johnson said. "Big play in the game, we had a lot of momentum going for us, kind of killed it. I take full responsibility for it."

Yet again, not really any reason for Stafford to take this risk. With the Lions on Kansas City's five-yard line, Stafford rolled out to his left and tried to switch hands with the ball as he was getting chased. It wound up on the turf and cost the Lions at least three points.
"I was trying to do too much, probably," Stafford said. I probably should have just thrown it away a little bit earlier. I was trying to buy a little bit of time and just lost the ball moving too much."
1. 4th-and-8.
The play that really cost the Lions the victory was a combination of poor execution on defense and terrific awareness on the part of Patrick Mahomes. When two Lions defenders appeared to mix up an assignment, Mahomes was allowed to scramble up field for a 15-yard gain to keep the game alive. At that point, you knew the Lions were in trouble.
"It's on all of us to get him on the ground and try to get off the field right there," said Devon Kennard. "That was the game."
