Dean Blandino: Microwave Mishap Shut Down Replay During Lions Thanksgiving Game

Covering the Lions for many years, I have been able to witness some unbelievable moments at Ford Field.

From the Aaron Rodgers Hail Mary to the time the food caught on fire, I have seen a lot. Most of it terrible -- except for when it was bad. And there were those few moments of so-so.

What we didn't know about until now was a situation that happened during the Lions-Vikings Thanksgiving Day game in 2016.

Former head of NFL officiating Dean Blandino joined the Mike Delivers podcast and told a story about how a microwave blew up the NFL replay after he tried to reheat a meal.

"We took the microwave and plugged it in, but they plugged it into the same outlet, the same circuit that the replay system was plugged into," Blandino said. "So when they turned the (microwave) on the whole thing went down. So we were down for maybe like two minutes while they fixed it while the game was going on.

"Thankfully we didn't have any replay reviews, but we kind of shut down the system because we wanted to heat up the stuffing for Thanksgiving in the microwave."

Imagine what would have happened if there was a play that needed to be reviewed.
