Absolutely heartbreaking news regarding Wisconsin assistant Howard Moore and his family. Involved in a car accident late last night that claimed life of his wife and daughter. Awful. Howard suffered non-life threatening injuries and his son suffered minor injuries. So sad.

You won’t find a better Man than Howard Moore or a sweeter soul than his wife Jennifer. Wonderful kids. I last saw Howard at the Final Four not even 2 months ago. Nothing but smiles & laughs then. Tears now. Always show & share love. You may never get the chance again. pic.twitter.com/wySpBhpHE6

Police identified the wrong-way driver as 23-year-old Samantha Winchester of Ann Arbor. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say Winchester worked at Barton Hills Country Club in Ann Arbor, but it is unclear if she was working that night.

Police first received a call about a vehicle heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of M-14 near Ford Road at 2:02 a.m. Saturday. One minute later, another call came in about a crash in the same location.

Howard is in his second stint as an assistant coach for the Badgers. He played at Wisconsin from 1990-95 before holding several assistant positions, including at Wisconsin from 2005-2010. He took the head coaching job at the University of Illinois Chicago in 2010 and returned to Madison in 2015.
