No, "Total Divas" won't be showing up to a local college to put on a professional wrestling show, instead female amateur wrestling will be taking center stage at Adrian College.
Adrian College will be holding the first ever Cliff Keen National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships Friday and Saturday.
Amateur wrestling isn't just for men anymore -- Women have taken the sport by storm.
According to the Detroit Free Press:
Earlier this season, the NCAA game women's wrestling an emerging sports status, but instead of waiting a few years to become a full-fledged NCAA sport, the ADs of the NCAA institutes that carry women's wrestling got together and formed the NCWWC.
Adrian put in a bid to host the first-time event and were chosen.
It'll be the second-straight weekend the Merillat Sports and Fitness Center has hosted a national event as the men's program hosted the NCAA Division III Central Region last week.
On Feb. 2, it also hosted the second annual girls state championship meet and on Jan. 31 the annual Lenawee County All-Star Tournament.
Adrian College is the home of the first women's wrestler to win a National Title. Zoe Nowicki, won the 136-pound bracket Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association Nationals.
The Free Press does state that women's wrestling is indeed one of the fastest growing sports in college.
I think this is wonderful for the ladies to take center stage. Move over men, here come the women!
