CHICAGO (97.1 The Ticket) -- Michigan State's Kyle Ahrens left Sunday's Big Ten Tournament championship game against Michigan late in the first half on a stretcher.

With just under 5:00 to play, Ahrens appeared to roll his ankle badly and he could be heard screaming in pain as he went down.

As the stretcher was brought out and trainers attended to the junior, his Spartan teammates gathered around, some of them wiping away tears.

Kyle Ahrens going down in obvious pain. Rolled that ankle really really bad. Bringing out a stretcher for him. This is tough to watch.

Brutal. Kyle Ahrens twists ankle badly going for rebound. Taking him off on stretcher. Michigan State injury woes are endless. Ahrens a gutty guy, but this doesn't look good.

All the Michigan State players out on the court as trainers tend to Ahrens. Some of them wiping away tears. This guy has been through the ringer with injuries. They've seen it up close.

Very somber scene here as Ahrens goes down with what appears to be a rather serious injury to his left foot or ankle. #MSU fans/players coming together supporting Ahrens. pic.twitter.com/5jmNjubDTu

X-rays reportedly came back negative for a fracture on Ahrens's ankle. There is still no word whether he will return.

Michigan led 31-23 at halftime.
