The selection of Nauta bookends the Lions' draft, opening up by taking T.J. Hockenson 8th overall in the first round and using their penultimate pick on Nauta in the 7th round.

Nauta hauled in 30 receptions and three touchdowns as a junior in 2018.

Having put an emphasis on the defense with four straight picks in the 2nd-5th rounds, the Lions went back to defense one last time with their final selection of the draft in Johnson.

Johnson began his career at City College of San Francisco before transferring to Sacramento State and ultimately to Arizona for one season with the Wildcats. He appeared in 10 games, posting 31 total tackles, three sacks and 8.5 TFL.
