Tavai, a 6-foot-2, 250 lb. senior from Inglewood, California, was named all-Mountain West Honorable Mention, despite an injury-shortened 2018 season. He had 390 tackles and 16.5 sacks during his college career.

Before being sidelined with a shoulder injury, Tavai was leading the team with 82 tackles.

The pick was announced by former Lion Billy Sims.
