I have the Lions trading twice in the 2020 NFL Draft, but not in my fantasyland way. The traditional trade is with the Dolphins, which allows Detroit to slide down a couple slots and still take Jeff Okudah. The Lions get picks Nos. 5, 26 and 70 for their troubles.
The second trade is a bit predictable in that the Patriots are the partner. Here, the Lions find a heat-seeking missile from Oklahoma in LB Kenneth Murray at No. 23 overall, sending New England No. 26 overall and a 2021 fourth-rounder.
The Lions end up with six of the top 85 selections in the draft and find themselves adding playmakers on both sides of the ball, with the potential for a home run-hitting RB and a solid WR from a very deep class on Day 2.
I would expect an OL to come off the board on Friday night, as well as a pass rusher, with a flurry of Big Ten talent available (Jonathan Taylor, J.K. Dobbins, Tyler Johnson, K.J. Hamler, Josh Uche, Kenny Willekes, Ben Bredeson).
Looking ahead to the second round, there's still a ton of talent as I had no RB's taken in the first. QB Jordan Love could be around, DT's Justin Madubuike and Neville Gallimore and a trio of safeties in Grant Delpit, Antoine Winfield and Jeremy Chinn.
The first round reflects what I think the Lions will do with their first pick. Beyond that, it's pure speculation and a lot of fun.
