LOS ANGELES (97.1 The Ticket) -- The Michigan baseball team, out west gearing up for a Super Regional bout against top-seeded UCLA this weekend, was on the bus after a training session Wednesday afternoon when they got some big news:
The Tigers had drafted their captain -- 3B Jimmy Kerr.
All of his teammates went crazy.

— Michigan Baseball (@umichbaseball) June 5, 2019Kerr, a senior from Arizona, is batting .269 with 12 home runs this season. He went 5-for-16 in the regional.
The Wolverines beat Creighton on Monday night to win the Corvallis Regional and advance to their first Super Regional since 2007. They got some pretty exciting news that night too -- pitchers Tommy Henry and Karl Kauffmann had been drafted on the first night of the MLB Draft, making for pair of big celebrations.

— Michigan Baseball (@umichbaseball) June 4, 2019The Tigers wrapped up their draft with 30 selections on the third and final day Wednesday. They also signed their first-round pick, Florida high school outfielder Riley Greene, to a contract on Wednesday. The team is expected to introduce him at a press conference on Friday.
Michigan gets down to business in Game 1 of the Super Regional against the Bruins Friday at 9 p.m. on ESPN 2.
