The first blow of John Beilein's departure from Michigan has landed.
Jalen Wilson, the top recruit in the team's two-man 2019 recruiting class, announced his de-commitment on Thursday.
"Due to the sudden head coaching change, I have requested my release from the University of Michigan, and will re-open my recruitment," Wilson wrote on Twitter.

— jwill (@thejalenwilson) May 16, 2019A 6'8 forward from Texas, Wilson is the No. 50 recruit in the class of 2019, according to 247 Sports.
His de-commitment leaves the Wolverines with just one incoming recruit, 6'7 forward Cole Bajema, ranked No. 106 in the country.
If there's any upside to the situation for Michigan, the team stands to have three open scholarships to use this summer. Wilson, Jordan Poole and Ignas Brazdeikis each accounted for one before deciding to move on.
Michigan is in the early stages of finding Beilein's replacement. Athletic director Warde Manuel has promised a "full national search."
