About a month after requesting his release from Michigan following the sudden departure of John Beilein, top-50 recruit Jalen Wilson announced on Wednesday he's going to Kansas.
He chose the Jawhawks over Michigan and North Carolina.
A 6'8 small forward from Texas, Wilson ranks No. 47 in the 2019 recruiting class, according to 247 Sports. He put up 18.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a senior.

— jwill (@thejalenwilson) June 12, 2019For Michigan, it's a tough loss. Wilson would have been one of the highest-rated recruits in program history. Without him, first-year head coach Juwan Howard is left with just one incoming recruit in four-star forward Cole Bajema.
But the Wolverines probably saw this coming. Wilson was recruited primarily by Luke Yaklich, who took a job with Texas after Beilein left for the NBA.
There's still plenty of reason to believe Howard, given his NBA background, will do well as a recruiter.
For what it's worth, one former Wolverine supported Wilson's decision.
Congrats to this killer -- bout to make a lot of noise https://t.co/uFOAVdFZNt
