Michigan Reportedly Offers Juwan Howard Head Coaching Job

If he's so inclined, Juwan Howard can return to his alma mater. 

Michigan has offered Howard the head coaching job of the men's basketball team, according to various reports. 

Per Jeff Goodman, "The ball is now in Juwan's court."

Michigan offered the job to Juwan Howard this morning, source told @Stadium."The ball is now in Juwan's court," source close to situation told me.

Howard, 46, has spent the last seven years as an assistant coach for the Miami Heat following a 20-year career in the NBA. 

He interviewed with Michigan on Tuesday after Providence coach Ed Cooley withdrew his name from consideration. Per ESPN, the two sides are still negotiating a deal. 

Howard has received numerous endorsements from former teammates, including LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. 

A member of the 1991 Fab Five recruiting class, Howard played three seasons for the Wolverines and helped them to two Final Fours. He won two championships in the NBA, both with the Heat. 

Howard does not have any head coaching experience or any coaching experience at all at the college level. 

If he accepts an offer from Michigan, it would become the only school at the FBS level with alumni as head coach of both their football and basketball programs.
