97.1 The Ticket -- It has been 30 years since Rumeal Robinson sunk a pair of clutch overtime free throws to deliver Michigan its first basketball national championship in program history.

The Wolverines saw head coach Bill Frieder depart the program for Arizona State just prior to the NCAA Tournament and Steve Fisher stepped in to lead the team to six straight wins en route to the title game, where they knocked off Seton Hall 80-79 in overtime.

Michigan is set to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the team's run to glory by wearing throwback uniforms when the Wolverines host rival Michigan State on Feb. 24.

In a nod to the team's uniforms that season, the new threads are maize, featuring the iconic large blue "block M," in the "Michigan" script across the front, with white numbers.

Michigan will take the court in the throwbacks in what is sure to be a massive matchup with the Spartans. After Michigan suffered a setback at Penn State Tuesday night, both teams are now tied atop the Big Ten standings and could be in the mix for a 1- or 2-seed in the NCAA Tournament, should either team finish the season strongly.

MSU has not announced what uniforms it will wear for the rivalry showdown, but the Spartans have worn throwback uniforms honoring the 40th anniversary of their 1979 Magic Johnson-led championship team. Should they opt to go with those, that could be one good-looking uniform matchup.
The Wolverines honored the '89 team in 2014 for the 25th anniversary of the championship by wearing white versions of the same uniform.
