"I'm talking about a level of hatred for Kyrie Irving that surpasses anything I've felt for Eli Manning," Valenti said. "I'm talking a level of dislike, a level of disdain, the exact opposite of reverence, and it's not for what a player didn't do ... It's not even because he didn't sign or didn't stay. This is the opposite. I'm thrilled he's leaving."
"If Irving declines the player option in his contract for 2019-20 as expected, he will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason after spending the previous two campaigns in Boston," Bleacher Report wrote, adding, "While early indications at the start of the 2018-19 season suggested Irving was poised to re-sign with the Celtics, things have become far less clear in recent months."
For Valenti, Irving occupies a special corner of the universe -- and it's a bad, bad place for him to be.
"You wanted to be big, bad Kyrie, you wanted to be a leader ... Went into one of the best situations in the league and you know what you did? You bleeped in the pool," Valenti said.
And he was off to the races. What emerged next was something that only be described as a rant.
"To ghost the Celtics? That to me tells you what this guy is, which is a wacko... Kyrie is a deranged human being. He's insane,'" Valenti said.
In what was possibly his worse salvo, Valenti offered this: "I hope that every Christmas for him blows."
