NASHVILLE, Tenn. (97.1 The Ticket) -- Former Michigan State safety Khari Willis became the second Spartan drafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, as the Indianapolis Colts selected him with the seventh pick of the fourth round (109 overall).

Willis joins fellow Spartan Justin Layne in the NFL ranks, as his teammate was drafted 83rd overall in the third round to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Colts traded up 20 spots to draft Willis, who had four sacks and four interceptions in his final two years as a Spartan.

Willis started all 26 games during that same span, racking up 148 tackles and three interceptions. The Indianapolis Star reported that Willis could compete for a good amount of playing time at safety next season.
