After entering the transfer portal last season, running back Connor Heyward has decided to stay at Michigan State.
He announced the news on Twitter Thursday night, after discussing his situation with new head coach Mel Tucker and MSU athletic director Bill Beekman.
"It has been a long process, but I know this is home in my heart," Heyward wrote. "I'm looking forward to what the future holds, and I can't wait to get back to work with my brothers. Go Green!"
— Connor Heyward (@ConnorHeyward1) February 20, 2020Heyward was the Spartans' starting running back when the 2019 season began, but soon lost the job to freshman Elijah Collins. He had 79 yards on 24 carries and seven receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown through four games when he decided to enter the portal.
He will be a redshirt junior next season, giving him two more years of eligibility.
In addition to Heyward and Collins, the Spartans return sophomores Anthony Williams and Brandon Wright at running back.
