Darius Slay Bids Detroit Farewell: 'I Can’t Thank Y'all Enough'

Darius Slay came a long way in his seven years in Detroit.

He went from a second-round pick who struggled in his first season to one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL. And he became a fan favorite along the way, with his big personality and big plays.

Slay was a man of the people. He often attended local basketball and football games, and last year he famously showed up to a fan's high school graduation party. And he was a three-time Pro-Bowler to boot. It's easy to see why the city fell in love with him.
The love was mutual. Slay let that be known one last time on Thursday, with a farewell message to Detroit on Instagram after he was traded to the Eagles

"Since I got drafted to Detroit, the city has shown nothing but love & respect, imma really miss pulling up to all the high school games here in Detroit & showing y’all love," Slay wrote. "I can’t thank y’all enough. Big Play will always love the fans!"

It's fair to say the fans will always love him back.
