Will Michigan and Jim Harbaugh change their fortunes against Ohio State?

Not if they don't change their mentality, according to former linebacker and co-captain Devin Bush.

Joining Jason Whitlock and Marcellus Wiley on their show "Speak for Yourself" Monday at the Super Bowl, Bush was asked to provide some hope that Harbaugh can take Michigan to the next level.

"I need hope, too," Bush said. "I gotta keep it real, we're not winning the big games. That's all. We have to find a way to win the big games."

Asked what's holding Michigan back in those big moments -- the players or the coaches -- Bush said, "I think it's a combination of both. I just feel like we need the right mentality. We need to walk into that game and not be like, 'Okay, I hope Ohio State don't show up today. I hope they give us a freebie.' Nah, we gotta go in there and take it."

Harbaugh is 0-5 against Ohio State, while Michigan has lost 15 of the past 16 overall. The Buckeyes have had noticeably more talent in recent years, but to Bush that's not the issue.

"If you look at it, we got a lot of players who come out and go to the NFL and be good and still playing. We have NFL talent at Michigan," he said. "It's just the mentality when you're at Michigan. Sometimes you get into that hole where it's like, 'Alright, well, State is up seven on us in the last seven, eight years.' It's like, we gotta win one."

So they're hoping to win, rather than expecting to win?

"Exactly," said Bush.
