Who said the Tigers don't have national appeal!?

Coming off a 114-loss season, Detroit's home-opener against the Royals on March 30 will be broadcast nationally by ESPN, the network announced Thursday.

It's part of a ESPN's opening day campaign that features 17 teams in 14 nationally-broadcast games from March 26-April 7.

The Tigers-Royals game is the seventh one in the package, which begins with the World Champion Nationals visiting the Mets. It's also the only one that features two teams who finished last and second-to-last in their division in 2018.

Of course, Opening Day in Detroit has always been a holiday of sorts, regardless of the Tigers' outlook. That likely had something to do with ESPN bringing a broadcast to Comerica Park.

The Tigers begin the 2020 season in Cleveland on March 26.
